No wonder you got the prize, Tom. I loved the painting the moment I saw it, and I still remember the nice appropiate comment you wrote about the inmigrants. Congratulations.
thanks so much alberto - i appreciate it a lot. for my parents and grandparents and millions of other immigrants who came through this room, america was a land of hope, of promise, of "yes". and i pray that it can remain so.
congratulations Tom, that's a great painting and great news! I visited that place a couple years ago, a worthwhile day. Continued success and accolades amigo!
Thomas, I have just stumbled onto your work and have to say that I am in awe of how you use this media. The way you handle light and shade is incredible. The way you suggest shapes and people, but they look so very real. Now I don't know if I should hang up my paintbrushes defeated, or be spurred on to to try to reach a fraction of your standard of work! Really amazing - thanks for showing us how watercolour painting should be done.
thank you so much frank! you don't know how much i appreciate your words! i looked at your wonderful works and of course - you should keep painting! you do great things. the best part of this medium is how adaptable it is. after many years of working in a very controlled, tight, more formal way; i've completely switched within the last year or two. a lot of work - but it's possible. and like anything - painting is an ever-evolving, living thing. the more you do it, the better it gets. but you never are where you want to be. it is the thrill of the process that makes it worthwhile. all my best wishes. cheers - tom
